This Just In: Polo Ralph Lauren Seersucker Double Breasted Sport Coat

I got this exact same jacket in the exact same size about a year or two ago. The jacket is a little tight under the armholes, so I took it to a tailor for fixin’. Epic fail. She straight up ruined it. I took it to a second tailor who tried his best to fix it, but with little success. I sunk a bunch of money into it. It’s sitting in a box in my closet at the moment.
So this one is still a little snug in the armpits, but I’m just going to deal with it. Lesson learned. So when’s Memorial Day?

So this came the other day. Not a bad fit out of the box, but a few issues. The sleeves need to be lengthened and taken out. They’re a bit tight in the forearm also. There is 2” of material in the sleeves. I may need to use all of it. I tried this on with a sport coat and it was a bit snug in the chest. It fits great in the chest without a sport coat though. I’ll probably have that let out some too. I’m not sure what’s going on with the right shoulder, but the left shoulder looks fine. Off to the tailor next week.

I often find great items on eBay with low starting auction prices. Inevitably, other people find out about them and drive the prices up to unreasonable levels. If this doesn’t happen, you can walk away with some great deals. It usually does though. Enter Buy It Now. If you find it first, it’s yours at that fixed price. Given my consistence on eBay, this is my preferred method of purchase. I don’t have to sit around waiting for an auction to end, hoping I’ll be the highest bidder. Just in and out. This coat was posted today and I found it about an hour after it went up. Copped.
I’ve been looking for an overcoat for some time now. I’ll need to lengthen the sleeves, but this should fit me well. More in a few weeks.
This Just Copped: Polo Ralph Lauren Tartan Wool Pocket Squares

I don’t own any wool pocket squares. I thought I would rectify that with these Black Watch and Macleod of Assynt tartan numbers. Rolled edges, 18” by 18”, 100% wool, made in Italy. I also had my eye on that Black Stewart joint, but decided to pass. That makes three black watch pocket squares for me now: cotton, silk and wool. Triptych.

I never wore a pair of jeans all four years of high school. I’m pretty sure my brother had a pair of these polo jeans, and they were the only pair I ever wanted to wear. Many, many, many years later I finally tracked down a pair in my size on eBay. I had them tapered and shortened, but my tailor didn’t make them nearly as short as I wanted. No matter, I like them this way. Double pleated, cuffed, and creased. Old man style.

Grail Status. I’ve been looking hard for these for like 2 years. I’d never seen them anywhere, but assumed they must exist. I was right. I searched high and low for a second pair, but none was to be found. It must have been my lucky day.
