Kill em with that collar roll. They don’t make them like this anymore. Shame.

This Just In: Polo Ralph Lauren Four Pattern Tie
$22 @ eBay
I’ve watched this tie on eBay for over a month. No one wanted to buy it including me. I absolutely love this idea, but the tie is only 2 1/2” wide. That’s beyond my threshold. Knit ties are perfect at 2 3/4”. Anything with a triangle tip, I want 3” or more. It’s also a bit on the short side in length. After relisting for a 4th time, saying it was 2 3/4” wide (liar), and adding a best offer option on the listing, I scooped it up.
Overall, I think the tie is workable. It’s unlined so the knot is pretty weak. I tied a double four-in-hand above. I wonder if I can get this thing lined.
I love this idea, but wish the tie was wider, longer and lined. I’ll probably still take it on vacations along with my Hermes tie. That’s 8 ties for the price of two.
This Just In: J. Crew Tuxedo
I found this on my way to work this morning. The jacket is a 38 R and the fit is spot on. The pants are a 31/32 which I’ll need to get tailored. I always envisioned myself in a double breasted tuxedo, but this will do for now. I guess I need shoes, a shirt, bow tie, etc. Did I just get a deal or a bill? I might just sell this thing. I’ll let you guess know if I decide to sell.
This Just In: Polo Ralph Lauren Seersucker Double Breasted Sport Coat
$25 @ Flea Market
I got this exact same jacket in the exact same size about a year or two ago. The jacket is a little tight under the armholes, so I took it to a tailor for fixin’. Epic fail. She straight up ruined it. I took it to a second tailor who tried his best to fix it, but with little success. I sunk a bunch of money into it. It’s sitting in a box in my closet at the moment.
So this one is still a little snug in the armpits, but I’m just going to deal with it. Lesson learned. So when’s Memorial Day?
This Just In: J. Crew Green Broken In Chinos
$22.50 @ J. Crew
J. Crew is having a 25% off everything sale. I got this on clearance for a song. I’m finding that I’m very much in between sizes at most stores. These are 31s which are about a 0.5” too big while the 30s were too small. I’ve had similar issues at Club Monaco and Brooks Brothers. It’s quite annoying. I figure at this price I don’t mind having my tailor taken in the waist a bit.
This Just In: Ribbed Tee Classic Fit V-Neck Undershirt
The kind people over at Ribbed Tee sent me two undershirts for review. I gave them a go last week, and I like them much more than my current Hanes undershirts. The Ribbed Tee combines the texture and body hugging qualities of an A-shirt with the neckline and sleeves of a traditional t-shirt. It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for. Full review coming soon.

I was super impressed with London’s thrift scene. More on that later.

This Just In: Polo Ralph Lauren Cotton Black Watch Cap
$25 @ eBay
My first black watch item ever was a Tommy Hilfiger hat like the one above. It was made of a lighter weight cotton and had the Tommy insignia on the front panel. It’s long gone, but it’s nice to have a similar one in the mix again.
It looks like some jerk store cut the leather strap in the back. Luckily, It fits me perfectly on the last available hole. Some people. SMH.
Note: I did not wear this hat today, but I did wear the gloves and scarf. #bwg
This Just In: Pendleton Wool Black Watch Hat
$16 @ eBay
Every now and then, I like to try out new things. I wouldn’t say that I’m jumping on a bandwagon so much as seeing if something fits in with my style. Believe it or not, I’ve only been wearing pocket squares for about two years now. There was a time when I found them a little awkward, but now I can’t imagine not wearing one.
I wear a hat everyday in the fall/winter. It’s usually a watch cap or a trapper hat. This is my first “serious” hat. Of course, it’s Black Watch. Don’t be surprised. I think it’s a fedora, but it may just be a bucket hat. It has been misshapen in it’s travels in the mail. I’m not sure how or if I can reshape it. Research later.
My wife hates it and thinks it looks ridiculous. I like it, but I’m not crazy about it right out of the box. I may need to size down a quarter inch. Also, I think it would look better if it had more structure to it. Hat’s are pretty cheap on eBay so I may get another one soon. So, what do you think?
